HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural longchain polymer with repeating disaccharide units that naturally provides lubrication and elastic shock absorption. Synovial fluid is a viscous solution found in the cavities of synovial joints. The principal role of synovial uid is to reduce friction between the articular cartilages of synovial joints during movement.

The presenceof high molar mass hyaluronan (HA) in this fluid gives it the required viscosity for its function as lubricant solution. In ammation oxidation stress enhances normal degradation of hyaluronan causing several diseases related to joints.

In NEOCARTIL PRO high molecular-weight (1,300 KDal) high purity (96%) hyaluronic acid is applied based on the results of an article published in J. Agric. Food Chem. 2008. That reported the first evidence for uptake and distribution to connective tissues of orally administered high- molecular weight HA in animal models. Later Mariko and coworkers published in the Nutrition Journal (2016) 1,2 a review that of oral hyaluronan has beneficial effects in humans. HA dietary supplements provide at least some possibility for helping patients with mild knee OA.
